As we progress into 2024, regulatory demands on the Wealth industry are increasing. While there is a clear focus on driving down costs, there is an even greater need to hire, develop and retain the best talent in the market and to build the management teams of the future. Developing this talent in-house is a cost-effective way of controlling recruitment costs, but how is this done successfully?

To explore this area, we will be joined by Tom Emery, founder of HEX Talent and Development and ex-Chief People Officer of Brooks Macdonald, as our headline speaker. Prash Arora from Parkwell Recruitment will investigate the various recruitment services available in the market and discuss the most effective approach to attracting top talent. This will be followed by a panel discussion with industry experts providing their thoughts on talent attraction, retention and development.

Tom Emery – Hex Talent & Development

Tom is a leadership development expert and coach with over 20 years’ experience in Human Resources and people development. He cut his teeth in fast-moving environments like retail and call centres before experiencing the branch network, digital, technology, HR operations, and transformation areas of a multinational bank. As Chief People Officer of an ambitious, listed FS business, he was part of the C-suite with responsibility for shaping culture, delivering a complex people agenda and facing off to the board. He works with executives, C-suite teams, and broader groups of leaders to increase their capability, effectiveness and impact on commercial outcomes. Tom is a qualified executive coach as well as being accredited to use several psychometric tools, including the HOgan suite of assessments. He is also experience in systemic team coaching.

 Gary Merrick – JM Finn

Gary is Head of Human Resources at JM Finn. He has over 25 years’ experience in Human Resources holding senior roles for the last 20 years, predominantly in Financial Services. He is responsible for all of the Human Resources activities in the company and chairs the CSR and D&I committee.

 Prash Arora – Parkwell Management Consultants

Prash has over 15 years’ experience focusing on mid to senior level roles on both a search and contingent basis. Hi focus has predominantly been on Wealth and Asset Management including Private Banks and Hedge Funds as well as service providers.

CFA qualified, having previously been a fund manager covering European equities and structured products for institutional clients.

Hugo Hunt – Parkwell Recruitment

Hugo initially qualified as a teacher, working in central London for 2 years before changing career path, moving into the recruitment industry.

He has subsequently worked in the industry for the past 30 years, covering a variety of sectors on a contingent and search basis. Since 2005, his focus has been squarely on search in the wider Investment Management sector, with a particular emphasis on regulatory and governance hiring. Most recently he has become further involved in the specifics of the Wealth Management and Private Banking sectors.
